This practice is engaged in training General Practitioners. This is a national scheme for fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. The doctors spend a year to eighteen months with us, having completed their full training plus a further three years' hospital work.
On occasion, our records are inspected by other doctors to ensure a high standard. As part of their training, the registrar may also, occasionally, request your permission to videotape the consultation. A consent form will be given to you by the receptionist when you attend but if you do not wish to be taped, please feel free to say so and your wishes will be respected.
We also have medical students visiting the practice from time to time and as a result there may be another person present when you see the doctor. If you would rather see the doctor alone, please feel free to say so.
The doctors work together as a team and patients, although able to express a preference of GP, are free to see any of the doctors within the practice. All of our doctors practice at both Wooburn Green and Bourne End. Where possible, the doctors will cover for each other during holiday periods. From time to time it is necessary to use a Bucks Health Authority approved locum GP.
The Nurses and Healthcare Assistant specialise in:
Chronic Disease Management
Family Planning, Cervical Smears
Minor Illnesses and Problems
Travel Advice and Vaccinations
The nurse team monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, give simple health checks and advise on general health issues and lifestyle changes. They also see minor illnesses such as sore throats, coughs, urinary tract infections. Both our nurses and HCA offer these services at both surgeries.
